Game Recap

The Heat (3-5) traveled across Parker to Challenger Field to take on the Venom (7-1-1) in a playoff game. They got off to a good start offensively with 3 consecutive singles by Carson Parkinson, Brendan Olson, and Owen Dodson to start the game. Mason Lish drove in the first run on a sac fly, scoring Parkinson. After a Carter Jorgensen walk to load the bases, Porter Robb also walked to drive in another run. The Heat scored 2 in the inning but left the bases loaded. The Venom answered back in the bottom half with 2 runs of their own to tie the game, but the Heat limited the damage with some good defense. Pitcher Brendan Olson caught a hard line drive for out number 1. After a couple runs scored and a strikeout, Beckett Dodson made an excellent catch sprinting towards the foul line in left field to end the inning, saving at least 1 run in the process.

Jaxson Minto led off the top of the 2nd inning with a double into the right center field gap. He scored on a Carson Parkinson single, giving the Heat a 3-2 lead. The Heat played some more good defense in the bottom half of the inning. Pitcher Brendan Olson grabbed a ground ball and threw over to 1st base for the 1st out. Owen Dodson caught a hard liner at SS for the 2nd out. Brady Greene made stopped a ground ball at 3B and made an excellent throw across the diamond to get the runner by a hair for the 3rd out. The Venom managed one run to tie the game at 3-3.

The Heat offense stalled in the top of the 3rd inning, going down in order. In the bottom half, the wheels started to come off for the Heat. The Venom scored 4 runs on 4 hits, 3 walks, and a hit batter, aided also by some questionable Heat defense. Owen Dodson made a good play on a ground ball up the middle, throwing over to 1st base to end the inning. The score after 3 innings was 7-3, Venom.

The bats stayed cold for the Heat in the 4th inning as they went down in order again. The Venom stayed hot in the bottom half. They brought 7 batters to the plate, and each one scored, capped off by a home run to end the game on the mercy rule. The final score was 14-3, Venom.

Game Recap

The Heat (3-4) played the Sting (2-5) in an away game at Salisbury in Parker as the 2nd leg of their Saturday double header. Brendan Olson got the offense started with a 1-out single in the top of the first. He stole 2nd base and came around to score on an RBI triple by Owen Dodson. The Heat took a 1-0 lead into the bottom half, but the lead was short-lived. The Sting put up 7 runs on 5 hits and multiple Heat miscues.

In the 2nd inning, the Heat managed 1 base runner on a Porter Robb walk. Robb stole 2nd base but was stranded after a couple strikeouts. The Sting scored 1 more run in the bottom half to make the score 8-1, Sting.

Kai Tomlan led off the 3rd inning for the Heat with a single. After a couple strikeouts, Carson Parkinson doubled to score Tomlan, and he came all the way around to score himself on a throwing error by the Sting and a questionable fielder’s interference call after he was initially thrown out at the plate. The Heat managed 2 runs in the inning to cut their deficit to 8-3. The Sting answered right back in the bottom of the 3rd with 2 runs of their own to make the score 10-3, but the Heat flashed some opportunistic defense to limit the damage. 2B Carson Parkinson caught a popup and doubled up the stealing base runner at 1st. With 2 outs, pitcher Brendan Olson got his glove on a line drive up the middle and slowed it down just enough for Parkinson to get under it for the 3rd out.

The 4th inning started with an Owen Dodson single. He stole 2nd base, advanced to 3rd on an error, and scored on a Mason Lish sacrifice fly to make the score 10-4. The game was called after the top half of the 4th inning due to darkness / time limit.

Game Recap

The Heat (3-3) took on the Dukes (6-1) in the first leg of a double header at Salisbury in Parker. The Dukes scored 5 runs in the bottom half on 2 hits, 3 walks, and 2 errors to make the score 5-0.

The Heat only managed one base runner in the top of the 2nd inning – a 2-out single by Brady Greene. In the bottom half, the Heat got to showcase their defense. Pitcher Mason Lish worked around a leadoff walk by inducing 2 ground balls to 2B Brendan Olson and striking a batter out to keep the score 5-0.

Carson Parkinson singled with 2 outs to get the offense started, and Brendan Olson was hit by a pitch, but an excellent defensive play by the Dukes pitcher on a hard comebacker ended the inning. The Heat limited the damage with some nice defensive plays by SS Owen Dodson on an infield popup and a ground ball, and a lineout to 2B Brendan Olson. The Dukes led 9-0 after 3.
